Our governance will be based on three key pillars: Anura
National Peoples’ Power (NPP) presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake said yesterday government formed by them would be based on three key concepts of establishing rule of law, minimizing misuse, fraud and establishing national unity.
Addressing a rally in Kiribathgoda yesterday, he said other policies on education, health and security should be incorporated in those key pillars.
“Rule of law should be established in the country properly.the rule of law is not applicable to everyone equally. Law is not implemented on well-to-do people while it is only implemented on the poor people.we will create a country which upholds rule of law equally to everyone,” he said. H said if the country was to be developed, fraud and misuse of public money should be stopped and added that they would not only stop fraud and misuse, but also recover the money looted by the politicians under their government,’ he said.
“If the rulers defraud and misuse money of the treasury, the country cannot be developed. When I took over agricultural ministry for 14 months as the subject minister, I made the Milco Company, which was debt ridden, as a profit-making venture during my tenure. I was able to cut down ministerial expenses and purchase two double-door buses to facilitate its staff,” he said.
Mr. Dissanayake said they would also cut down expenses of former presidents’ by 90 per cent and cut down all of their privileges and would be taken over by the government. He said national security was also one of the key pillars which need attention and added that there would be no threat from foreign forces or organized local terrorist outfits in the future whereas it would come as a threat from extremist elements.
“We will never seek support of any extremists such as Islam, Buddhist or Christian for our political campaign.we will never allow any sort of extremism to raise its head. Public security can only be ensured by creating national unity,” he said.
