Two NSF athletes to receive motor cars for the first time in history

The Minister of Sports and the Department of Sports Developmen­t has decided to award two motor cars for the Best Athletes (men and women) at the 45th National Sports Festival (NSF) for athletic championsh­ips. This will take place from October 24 to 27 at the Vincent Dias Stadium, Badulla.

Vehicles have never been awarded for performanc­es at the NSF before. These vehicles will be presented by President Maithripal­a Sirisena on October 27 at the NSF closing ceremony. The vehicles are being sponsored by Sri Lanka Cricket.

In addition, Sri Lanka record holders at the NSF will receive cash awards amounting to Rs. 100,000 each. For a meet record, Rs. 50, 000 will be awarded.

There are 28 sports in the NSF and the Best Players in all sports will be awarded Rs.20, 000 each.

Twenty one team events have been completed to-date. Out of them, Western Province has won 72 Gold, 54 Silver and 52 Bronze and is in front.

Central Province is in second position with 22 Gold, 21 Silver and 33 Bronze. North Western Province is in third place with 20 Gold, 15 Silver and 31 Bronze.
