- BY YOHAN PERERA

Pledging to establish a safety net to eradicate corruption, UNF led alliance’s candidate Sajith Premadasa yesterday said representatives of all political parties will have to play a role in it.

Responding to a question raised at a business forum Mr. Premadasa said he will form a committee comprising representatives of all parties to scrutinize tender procedures while special unit will be established in the president’s office to fight against corruption.

“Corruption will be eradicated under my regime if I am elected as president of this country,” Mr. Premadasa said.

Responding to a question raised by a member of the audience who told him not get misled by the advisors who tell him to copy the opponent and think of the farmers, Mr. Premadasa said he would not be a hostage to any advisor.

“I will not be a hostage of advisors. I have a degree in economics. One can test my knowledge. I have a mind of my own,” he said in this regard.

“I am not a taxing and spending politician. I will reduce taxes and reform the tax system. This

will be to ensure that private sector businesses grow and expand. I believe in competitive marks and I also believe in social justice,” he also said.

We have had ad hoc decision making rather than rational decision making during the past few decades. We shall have a comprehensive decision making process and a structure,” he continued.

He added, if the few who are rich cannot take care of the many who are poor, the rich who are few, will be imperilled.
