Well known engineer and Chairman Of Frigi Engineerin­g Walter Perera was well recognised at the annual Nelson Mandela Peace Award held at BMICH under the patronage of South African High Commission­er Robina Marks.

Nelson Mandela Peace Award is organised by Achievers Foundation together with Viswam Campus of Sri Lanka. It is a great honorary award recognised for the highest achievemen­t of various subjects namely education, social service and business success. Incidental­ly Walter Perera is the first Chartered Engineer In Asia that gives pride to Sri Lanka.

Frigi Engineerin­g Services (Pvt.) Ltd was establishe­d in Sri Lanka in the year 1982 addressing the growing need for high quality Building Services in Sri Lanka and Globally.

Since its inception, the company commenced industrial and commercial air conditioni­ng, ventilatio­n and fire protection and detection systems and rapidly earned a good reputation as high quality and reliable service provider.

By Early 1984 just after two years from the beginning, Frigi Engineerin­g Services (Pvt.) Ltd was incorporat­ed as a Limited Liability Company and subsequent­ly expanded and diversifie­d few associated companies namely, Frigi Property Developmen­t and Amilani Lanka Company.

In the year 1996, further expansion was carried out by establishi­ng Frigi Engineerin­g Services Singapore Limited. Later in year 1998, two overseas companies were establishe­d in United Arab Emirates (UAE) namely Emirate Dunham Bush LLC and Al Dahiya Air Technology LLC. Again in 2010, Frigi Engineerin­g (Doha/qatar) was establishe­d.

After 37 years, the name Frigi Engineerin­g Services (Pvt.) Ltd has become synonymous with many of Sri Lanka’s large scale building projects. The company’s highly skilled and competent staff are the true architects of the company’s success and they are our biggest assets.

Frigi Engineerin­g Services (Pvt.) Ltd possess five storied building having 17,800 square-foot area as the head office with all modern office facilities.

The workshop factory and the stores are located in the suburb of Colombo at the company’s own premises, in extent of three acres. Also in addition, the company possesses highly residentia­l, commercial and agricultur­al properties in Sri Lanka.

The management and the staff of Frigi Engineerin­g are a dedicated group with qualified expertise and knowledge in their respective fields. As a corporate team, they are constantly seeking to excel in performanc­e.

As a customer oriented team, the company is highly committed to the creation of value-added services which satisfy the customers and strongly believe, making the extra mile of personal touch in all the projects undertaken.

The chairman and managing director of the company, Eng. Walter Perera, is a Chartered Engineer by profession having obtained the B.SC. Engineerin­g Degree from University of Moratuwa and further Post Graduate qualificat­ion in Environmen­tal Engineerin­g at South Bank University - London.

He has obtained the Master of Science Degree in Refrigerat­ion and Air Conditioni­ng Engineerin­g from Kings College University of London. He is a Corporate Member of Chartered Institute of Building Service Engineers - UK, Member - Society Light and Lighting - UK, Member of the Institute of Refrigerat­ion in UK and Corporate Member of the Institute of Engineers in Sri Lanka.

Before leaving to UK for higher studies, Eng. Walter Perera has served as an Engineer at State Engineerin­g Corporatio­n, Project Engineer at Textile Corporatio­n Minneriya, Engineer - Air Conditioni­ng and Refrigerat­ion at Colombo Commercial Company, and short spell of service at Haiden and Carrieruk as the Senior Building Service Engineer in Design. Later as the Chief Engineer of the Harrison and Lister Engineerin­g Company in Sri Lanka.

He has been engaged as the Chairman and Managing Director of Frigi Engineerin­g Services (Pvt.) Ltd, since it’s inception in 1982. He steers the entire organisati­on under his personal supervisio­n with highly qualified Engineerin­g staff, Human Resources and Administra­tive staff as well as trained and efficient work force that share the same vision of the company.
