GAMPAHA TO BE A TECHNOLOGICAL EDUCATION HUB
People were misled in 2015 for a change
Gampaha District would be developed as a technological education hub, SLPP Presidential Candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa said on Saturday.
He said that it has been planned to provide all the necessary infrastructure facilities to transform Gampaha District into an educational hub with a new engineering campus and information technology campus affiliated to the Kelaniya University being instituted which will enable to increase the intake of youths for higher education.
The SLPP Presidential Candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa made these remarks at an election rally organised by Gampaha District SLPP Organiser Prasanna Ranatunga and Ja-ela chief organiser Meryl Perera which was held near the Ragama Railway Station.
There are large numbers of studious youth in the country and opportunities should be made available to develop their skills and knowledge to the world level and thereby develop our economy. Those who do not get the opportunity to enter the university after passing the A/L examination and the O/L qualified youth also will be benefited with such educational systems, he said.
He also said they bestowed the warheroes with pride but this government activities have degraded the status they enjoyed.
Opposition leader Mahinda Rajapaksa speaking at the meeting said people were misled in 2015 for a change. But after a short period of time they could realise the true nature of the change they have brought in. They have destroyed the economy of the country and neglected the agriculture and aggravated the unemployment problem.
He also blamed the government for abusing the state media for election work and to sling mud against opponents. A peaceful environment prevailed in the country for a decade after ending the 30 year war but was shattered with the Easter Sunday bomb explosions due to the neglect of the country’s security by the government.
He asked the people to elect Gotabaya as the President as he had already proven his ability of working for the country.
