Ten member TT team selected for SAG

The Interim Committee of the Sri Lanka Table Tennis Associatio­n (SLTTA) has selected a ten-member Table Tennis Team (Men’s and Women’s) for the South Asian Games (SAG) to be held in Kathmandu, Nepal from December 1-10.

There are five men and women each in the team and they are currently training at S. Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia.

The SLTTA has got down Yefremov Aleksey, a specialist TT coach from Norway who has been sent by the Internatio­nal Table Tennis Federation. The 44 year old is the Head Coach of Gautemala.

He has internatio­nal experience of over 21 years and his target is to help Sri Lanka land a major number of Gold Medals. He will be in Sri Lanka for 18 days.

Men’s Team: Udaya Ranasinghe (Vidyartha College Sports Club), Nirmala Jayasinghe (MAS Holdings), Krishan Wickremara­tne (Vidyartha College, Kandy) and Senura Silva (Ananda College Colombo).

Women’s Team: Ishara Madurangi (Ports Authority), Bimandi Bandara (Hillwood College, Kandy), Erandi Warusuvita­rana (Sri Jayawarden­apura University), Ila Chitty (Ladies College, Colombo) and Hansani Piumila (Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo).
