Sri Lanka-greater Mekong Business Council holds Annual General Meeting
The eighth annual general meeting (AGM) of the Sri Lanka-greater Mekong Business Council was held recently at the Colombo Club.
Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Thibich Ngoc, Thai Ambassador Chulamanee Chartsuwan and Myanmar Ambassador Han Thu were the chief guests at this event.
Ranfer Teas (Pvt.) Ltd Director Ranil Seneveratne was elected by the members as President for the year 2019-2020.
Aitken Spence Travels (Pvt.) Ltd Outbound General Manager Nishan Seneviratne, Travel7 (Pvt.) Ltd Executive Director Trevor Rajaratnam and Siam City Cement (Lanka) Limited External Affairs and Business Development Head Venura Fernando were elected as Vice Presidents.
The member companies, Capital Developers Ltd, Ceylon Biscuits Ltd, The Lanka Hospitals Corporation PLC, MAC Holdings (Pvt.) Ltd and Maliban Biscuit Manufactories (Pvt.) Ltd were elected to the committee.
Outgoing President and Astron Limited Deputy Managing Director Sirimal Fernando will continue on the committee as Immediate Past President.
The Sri Lanka-greater Mekong Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce functions with the main objective of further expanding trade, investment and tourism linkages between Sri Lanka and the countries of the Greater Mekong Subregion: Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
In the previous years, the council conducted many interactive events and seminars to help the Sri Lankan companies to promote and increase their business partnerships in Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, as well as a highly successful trade and business promotion mission to Myanmar in May 2019.
The council also maintains a close relationship with the diplomatic missions of the Greater Mekong in Sri Lanka as well as the Sri Lankan diplomatic missions in the Greater Mekong Subregion. Companies who wish to join the membership of the Council can email Ayoni (ayoni@ chamber.lk).
