‘Shatter the Silence’ is a nonprofit organisation comprising a group of passionate individuals, seeking to demolish all things evil by representing the vulnerable; acting as a voice for the voiceless. The main focus of this outfit is to recognise, counteract and ultimately diminish poverty, women and child abuse in the country, to make this nation free of cruelty; one step at a time.

For the third consecutive year, Shatter the Silence is organising another fund raiser show titled ‘Feast of Florence’ at the Grand Oriental Hotel in Colombo on October 25 at 7 pm.

This year they are raising funds to provide infrastructure and safety measures for a new children’s home in Dunagaha, Maradagahamula. Shatter the Silence Chairperson Shevon Fernando is also a member of the director board at the children’s home.

“In addition to this project we have carried out several other missions for the welfare of children and women. I have been dealing with and coordinating with the women and child bureau for more than 2 decades. Last year we acted as a support group to build a house in Wellawaya for a needy family of a kidney patient and laid a foundation stone for a pre-school in the area,” Shevon said.

The Principal of Mattumagala Roman Catholic School Mrs. G. S. Priyashanthi also hailed the role played by Shatter the Silence which conducted a series of awarenes programmes for senior students of the school, focusing on the prevention of child abuse and drug addiction. ‘Feast of Florence’ at the Grand Oriental Hotel in Colombo on October 25 at 7 pm.
