The Election Commission had received 133 complaints regarding election law violations and violent activities than yesterday, the Commission said. While issuing an elections complaints summary report the commission said a total of 1,618 complaints received from October 8 to 23. 1,485 complaints received on Wednesday (23) regarding election law violations and violent activities.

However, fourteen violent activities had been reported to the National Election Complaint Management Centre and District Election Complaint Management Centres. 1,414 election law violations were reported to the respective centres.

67 other cases had also been reported.

18 more complaints were received yesterday compared to the daily complaints received on Thursday (24). During the 24 hours from Thursday (24) to yesterday 4.00 p.m, 133 complaints had been reported in connection with election law violations and four violent activities were reported.

The Election Commission has decided to open complaint offices to investigate election complaints at the Elections

Secretariat in Rajagiriya and all district offices to entertain complaints relating to the forthcoming presidential election.

These complaint offices are established in collaboration with the police and after investigating the complaints received during the presidential elections this year, new laws are to be promulgated to prevent issues that are seen as routinely happening during elections.
