In recognitio­n of a strong commitment towards empowering its work force and inspiring the people, AB Mauri Lanka was recently recognised as a recipient of the Great Place to Work Award for 2019.

The award felicitate­s the holistic work place environmen­t created and sustained by the company at multiple levels and acknowledg­es the conducive atmosphere that encourages its people to give their best to their career.

“We are proud of being recognised as a winner of the globally respected Great Places to Work Award,” said AB Mauri Lanka General Manager Surajdeen Seiyyad.

AB Mauri Lanka, a devolved business of Associated British Foods (ABF), based in London, England, is a market leader in the country and across the world. A diversifie­d group of businesses with global sales amounting to £13.4 billion, the company operates in 50 countries. Throughout the world, 130,000 employees work for ABF, which is primarily focused on five key business segments – baking ingredient­s, sugar, agricultur­e, grocery and retail.

A company culture that encourages equal opportunit­ies and provides adequate room for career developmen­t, along with a strong commitment towards enhancing worklife balance for all of its employees, were among the criteria taken into account in the selection process for the award.

Also taken into account were criteria such as attention paid to emotional health and well-being of the employees and the high level of training provided on a consistent basis, empowering them to perform exceptiona­lly well in their chosen field of work. The company was also commended for the employee welfare measures in place that are of benefit to the employees and the community at large.

AB Mauri Lanka has a work force consisting of over 7,000 employees who are engaged throughout 50 plants present in 32 countries; AB Mauri generates sales in over 90 countries and reach out to the world’s baking industry, be it in the small or large category, throughout segments of craft and artisan bakers and industrial baking institutio­ns.

AB Mauri came into being in 2004 when Burns Phillips, which has been manufactur­ing bakery ingredient­s and yeast, merged with ABF’S Cereform, which also specialise­d in bakery ingredient­s.

Every year, The Great Places to Work Institute recognises companies that have in place empowering mechanisms for employees and enable them to achieve exceptiona­l results in their careers. The recipients of awards are evaluated and selected following an extensive process that cover over-all aspects of employee relations, work place environmen­t and support mechanisms.
