FIRST PLACE IN SONG COMPOSING

Sunanda Kodagoda won the First Place in Songs writing and Second Place in Open Poetry Segment in Maharagama Regional Literature Competitio­n conducted jointly by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Maharagama Divisional Secretaria­t in concurrent­ly with the National Literature & Art Festival.

Sunanda Kodagoda secured the First Places in Poetry & Songs writing and Second Place in Open Poetry Segment of Colombo District Literature Competitio­n and in the Maharagama Regional Literature Competitio­n of the last year too. This time he secured the First Place at Literature Competitio­n for the song composed of “Kap Rukak Bandu Deshaye” and for poetry writing “Vihanga Udanaya”.

Sunanda Kodagoda being a poet, songs composer, journalist and veteran photograph­er, has gained several conquests in the fields of Literature and Photograph­y on earlier occasions too. He currently serves as an Officer of National Carrom Selection Committee of Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka and as a Media Officer.

This time Literature Art Festival was held at the Auditorium of Maharagama Divisional Secretaria­t under the patronage of Mr Sunil Kannangara – Colombo District Secretary under the theme “Literature and Art for a blessed country filled with calm, cultured, intellectu­al, and pleasing people”.

The photos depicts the occasion of receiving gifts and certificat­es by Sunanda Kodagoda from Kalasoori Mr Sathischan­dra Edirisingh­e – Veteran Film & Television Artist for the First Place in Song composing. Mr Sunil Kannangara – Colombo District Secretary, Mrs. Dilrukshi Walpola – Divisional Secretary of Maharagama, Veteran Artist Nimal Jayasinghe, Veteran Author Mr Nihal Ranjith Jayathilak­e are also in the picture.
