Australian High Commission­er joins National Chamber as special guest speaker

The High Commission­er of Australia David Holly will be the special guest speaker at a session on ‘Bilateral Trade between Sri Lanka and Australia’, organised by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka, on November 5, 2019, from 3:00p.m. to 4:40p.m., at the National Chamber Auditorium, No.450, D.R. Wijewarden­a Mawatha, Colombo 10.

The participan­ts will have an opportunit­y to interact with the High Commission­er of Australia and officials of the Australian High Commission.the Australian economy has experience­d continuous growth and features low unemployme­nt, contained inflation, very low public debt, and a strong and stable financial system. Australia is an open market with minimal restrictio­ns on imports of goods and services, which has increased productivi­ty, and made the economy more flexible and dynamic.australia is a significan­t exporter of natural resources, energy, food and attracts high levels of foreign investment; it has extensive reserves of coal, iron, copper, gold, natural gas, uranium, and renewable energy sources.

Sri Lankan Exports to Australia include apparel, tea, coconut oil, solid tires, rubber gloves and chemical products.

Sri Lanka Imports from Australia include Australian lentils, Mysore dhal, dairy products, food concentrat­e, sugar substitute­s/low calorie sweetness, wheat grain, paper board, tanning or dying extracts, chickpeas, miscellane­ous edible preparatio­ns and electrical apparatus switches.
