Ruhunu Hospitals links up with President’s Fund
Ruhunu Hospitals (Pvt.) Ltd, which is spearheading the task of transforming Galle into a centre for excellence in neurosurgery and neurosciences in Sri Lanka, makes yet another meaningful intervention in its healthcare services by linking up with the President’s Fund to facilitate financial assistance for spinal cord compressions and brain surgeries.
Accordingly, the patients seeking medical care on above categories will be entitled to access grants from the fund following a recommendation by a specialist consultant.
In the last 25 years, Ruhunu Hospitals (Pvt.) Ltd had embarked on various undertakings in line with its ambitious vision to make the southern region a hub of worldclass health services through expansions in its medical/ clinical services.
The establishment of a stateof-the-art Neurosurgery Centre, Brain and Spine Unit has made Ruhunu Hospital the only private hospital outside of Colombo to have a Neuro Microscope with the capacity to provide treatment for those diagnosed with various neurological health challenges.
The other key initiatives launched thus far include, setting up of the first and the only Iso-accredited medical laboratory in Galle and launch of technology-backed medical services. Meanwhile, the hospital’s extensive network of medical centres spanning across Udugama, Baddegama, Neluwa, Tangalle and Aluthgama provide preliminary medical services and laboratory services for the patients.
Ruhunu Hospitals (Pvt.) Ltd is also gearing up to launch its new wing in the first quarter of 2020. This nine-storied, stateof-the-art unit will comprise two operating theatres, 40+ inward rooms, including two ultra-luxury suites and 50+ channel rooms as well as enhanced medical services on neurosurgery, vascular surgery, cancer, dialysis, radiology (MRI) and fertility treatment on top of that in the coming years.
Meanwhile, Ruhunu Hospitals (Pvt.) Ltd CO-CEOS Raveen Wickramasinghe and Janith Liyanage said, “Getting overseas medical treatment for brain and spinal cord is relatively costly. Majority of the people do not have the financial means to bear the expenses related to these type of treatment. Elaborating further, CO-CEOS added that the link up with the President’s Fund to expand the service offerings has several advantages on multiple levels.
“There is a waiting list for critical care. Hence, this will bridge the gap of receiving best medical care for critical illnesses immediately for an affordable cost without staying in the waiting list. People do not have money to come to the private sector for top medical care. We are attracting Sri Lankans from all parts of the country concentrating on domestic medical tourism for neurosurgery. Additionally, there will be an eco-system built around this medical facility when people from other parts of the country travel to the area for treatment paving the way for a boost in the local economy,” he added.
