GOTA WILL LOOK INTO THE DISABLED AND WIDOWS AS WELL: BASIL
The SLPP National Organiser Basil Rajapaksa was on tour in The Eastern Province. Mr. Basil Rajapaksa speaking at a rally at Sainthamaruthu in Batticaloa on Monday. Said SLPP presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa would create an environment conducive for the disabled and widowed persons.
He said, that he was aware that a majority of people in this region depended on farming and fishing. He also, said
that he was aware that a considerable part of the population were disabled and some were widows.
He said that he was confident that Gotabaya Rajapaksa would fulfill the responsibility of ensuring an environment
favourable to all of them after the 17th of November.”
He said they will create an atmosphere where all communities can live in harmony and said the incumbent government has distanced communities from each other instead of establishing reconciliation. Mr.rajapaksa said anyone visiting Sainthamaruthu could see how harsh the living conditions are in the area. “Not only that, you are suffering from the wild elephant issue and in need of a bridge. We were able to implement some development projects in the East but there is more left to be done,” he said.
Sainthamaruthu Mosque’s Chief Y.M. Haneefa also made a speech at the event which was attended by MPS Wimalaweera Dissanayake, Sriyani Wijewickrama and elected representatives of Sainthamaruthu.
Mr. Haneefa highlighted the importance of the contribution by the Muslim community at the presidential election to ensure Gotabaya’s victory. “He is the only leader who can ensure that all communities can live together in genuine reconciliation,” he said.
