2 Men and a Woman arrested for extortion

Two young men had entered a hotel and extorted Rs.200,000 from an individual who was in a room with a woman whom he had befriended in town on that day. The woman and the man who were found in the hotel were from two areas in Chilaw.

The man a father of two children had met the women concerned in Chilaw town had fallen in love with her.

Later they had checked in to a popular hotel in Chilaw town and were in a compromising position when two men had suddenly entered the room and demanded Rs.200,000/= from him by threatening to divulge the incident to his wife and children if he failed to pay them.

The man had then paid them Rs.200,000 to escape the situation and left the hotel immediately.

He had then related his ordeal to one of his friends who explained to him that he had fallen prey to a organised racket and prompted him to report the incident to the Chilaw Police.

The Police initiated an investigations based on the man’s complaint arrested the suspected woman and the two men .

On further questioning they found that the woman and the two men had been carrying on the racket for some time.

The woman would approach & entice wealthy men to spend the day with her at a hotel & get her accomplices to extort money from the unsuspecting victims who fell prey to her advances.

The OIC Chilaw Police CI Seneviratne Edirisinghe, OIC Crime Investigastion Branch Amila Ratnayake , SI Dilruk, and Sergeant 29727 Ranjith are conducting further investigations.
