Grand Hotel-nuwara Eliya acclaimed Culinary and Service excellence

Grand Hotel, Nuwara Eliya bagged record 45 medals at the recently concluded Culinary Art

and Food Expo 2019 held at the BMICH, emerging 4th overall and as the top team in the Central Province. The medallists included many apprentice­s from the Culinary and F&B service teams, who were at the BMICH in Colombo to provide a sample of the dining experience­s they provide to guests from all over the world in Nuwara

Eliya, day in- day out. With a total medal haul of 45 out of 48 entries the Grand Team won accolades for creations from plated appetisers, to innovative mocktails and showpieces to become the 4th in the overall championsh­ip overcoming some big internatio­nal brands.

Tyronne David, the Resident Manager of the Hotel.the Food and Beverage team won five Gold medals, One Silver and 43 Bronze medals, while mixologist, M. Moorthy set a record by winning 4 Gold medals displaying outstandin­g innovation and precision that is required at internatio­nal level.

Speaking at the felicitati­on ceremony for the winners, Deputy Chairman of Grand Hotel, Gerard Ondaatjie said ‘We are on a journey of providing gold medal standards to all our guests, in all the services we offer’.

He lauded the efforts of all the culinary team headed by Chef Priyantha Weerasingh­e and the F&B team led by Faizeen Jameel for bringing out the best in the individual­s through training and urged them to bring this new knowledge and exposure to the daily operation of the hotel'.
