Sweets, if we talk about, from our childhood, everybody likes to have sweets. Especially the older generation is craving for sweets. Unfortunately, with the new trends in the contemporary society, they are unable to consume sweets. The Majority of the older generation are restricted to have sweets due to unprecedented level of diabetes spread. I have seen many people, mainly with type 2 diabetes and other high blood sugar related complications are unable to enjoy the desserts. They regret, sad and unhappy for the fact that they cannot have sweets. For this reason, I have many a times tried to find sugar free confectioneries for their special celebrations to make them delightful & cheerful but was unable to find any in the local market. This was the beginning of my thought process and I thought I should start my own e-commerce type of business. I saw the gap in the market and I also saw the potential market opportunity in that gap. That was the begging of “Café Sugar Free”, Sri Lanka’s first online platform for sugar free confectioneries. And my next concern was from where to source these products. Therefore, I carried out an extensive research with a strict criterion for quality & hygiene. I had to pay extra attention as this food range will be having a segment who ideally should not be having too many sweets and then, I decided to buy this range of products that have global presence and especially made in compliance with good manufacturing practices as per European standards. These products from countries such as Germany, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and Singapore. I am the exclusive distributor of these two brands in Sri Lanka and Maldives.

In addition to that we are planning to tie up with other local manufactures who are manufacturing organic, health, sugar free, low fat, low GI and low carb foods. Whoever who is manufacturing such products, are invited to showcase their sample at “Café Sugar Free” to get this location advantage so that we can promote such local products, get orders and make arrangements to get it delivered to their door step. This will help consumers to buy health food under one roof to regulate, mange, control and reduce their health-related issues. This is only the beginning; I want to expand it to the wider range of natural and organic food items.

We proudly announce that now we undertake order for sugarless cake, cupcakes and other desserts for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversary and even for weddings.

The sugar substitutes used in majority of our products is all-natural stevia an extract of a plant well known for its goodness leaving no doubts in the minds of the consumer for any possible side or after effects.

Sri Lanka is one of the 6 countries of the IDF SEA region. 425 million people have diabetes in the world and 82 million people in the SEA Region; by 2045 this will rise to 151 million. There were 1,198,100 cases of diabetes in Sri Lanka in 2017. It is a common prevailing health concern and it poses serious health threat. Our vision is to be a part of an overall healthy nation and CSF is contributing for this good cause at the best of our ability by making awareness and providing consumers a choice of healthy food to overcome this issue gradually. So now I believe the Sri Lankan can go “sweet” without compromising good health.
