Wayamba University of Sri Lanka welcomed into CFA Institute University Affiliation Programme

Wayamba University of Sri Lanka has become the latest university to be welcomed into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Programme.

The Banking and Finance Department has been acknowledged as incorporating at least 70 percent of the CFA Programme Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) and placing emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice within the programme.

These programmes position students well to obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, which has become the most respected and recognised investment credential in the world.

Entry into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Programme signals to potential students, employers, and the marketplace that Wayamba University curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well-suited to preparing students to sit for the CFA examinations.

Through participation in this programme, Wayamba University is eligible to receive a limited number of student scholarships for the CFA Programme each year.

Bachelor of Science (Special) Degree in Banking and Finance

The Department of Banking and Finance was established in year 2001 as one of the pioneer departments in the Faculty of Business Studies and Finance,

Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. It is the first academic department in the university system in Sri Lanka to offer a specialised Degree in the field of Banking and Finance. B.SC. (Special) Degree in Banking and Finance is a four-year (eight semesters) undergraduate programme conducted in English medium and it primarily focuses on the subject areas of Banking, Finance, Investment, Management and Economics.

Further, the degree programme is designed with IT related modules in order to enhance the knowledge of undergraduates in the field of information technology relevant to the field of study, leading to produce exceptional personnel to the banking and finance sectors.
