Sri Lanka takes part at ITB Asia 2019 in Singapore
Sri Lanka Tourism participated at ITB Asia Travel Fair in Singapore from October 16 to 18, 2019, with 10 Sri Lankan industry participants.
Sri Lanka’s participation at the fair was a collaborative effort by Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) and the Sri Lanka Embassy in Singapore.
Sri Lanka’s participation was successful at this year’s ITB Asia which was held in Singapore from October 16 to 18, 2019.
The Sri Lanka pavilion had a floor area of 45-square-metres. The decor used to decorate the stand highlighted all tourism attractions of Sri Lanka which warmly welcomed the visitors and gave them a flavour of perfectly blended culture and heritage of the destination. The Sri Lanka pavilion was designed and constructed by official stand constructor - PICO, Singapore.
Ambassador for Sri Lanka in Singapore Sashikala Premawardhane cut the ribbon to open the Sri Lanka pavilion in the presence of SLTPB and Sri Lanka Embassy in Singapore officials and industry members on October 16, 2019.
Shirani Herath, Junior Manager and Market Officer handling the Singapore market represented the SLTPB.
Taking into consideration the importance of Singapore as one of the emerging tourist generating markets in Southeast Asia, Esna Holidays, Let’s See Asia, Green Holidays, Camlo Lanka Travels, Kamvelta Tours, Ya tours, Jetwing Travels, Why House, Rameca Travels and Leisure and Sri Lanka Convention Bureau participated as the co-exhibitors.
ITB Asia is the ideal platform for the travel trade industry to forge new partnerships and strengthen existing relations with industry players in Singapore and across region. This massive fair showcases it’s members’ latest products, trends and destinations, attracting more visitors and bringing outbound travel agents, national tourist organisations, airlines, hotels and travel-related services together under one roof.
This fair consists of marketing conferences and is a convenient meeting place for industry participants around Singapore and the region to promote their tourism products for the target segments.
All the co-exhibitors at the Sri Lanka stand who represented Sri Lanka’s tourism industry succeeded in strengthening existing businesses and establishing new business contacts throughout the fair. They were satisfied with quality of business contacts they made during the event.
The SLTPB was also able to meet high profile representatives such as Lonely Planet Client Solutions Vice President Andrew Hinshelwood, OTOAI (Outbound Tour Operators Association of India) President Mahendra Vakharia and also representatives of Asia Travel Club - Singapore, TTG Asia Media Pte. Ltd - Singapore, Wanderers Leisure Travels (Pvt.) Ltd - Mumbai, House of Travel - New Zealand, webjet. com.au - Australia, Malindo Air Singapore, and many more.
The public and trade visitors also displayed a particularly keen interest in Sri Lanka as a tourist destination and their response was extremely positive. The positive progress achieved by Sri Lanka at ITB Asia 2019 confirmed its position as an important marketing instrument in the region for the local tourism industry.
