Ariya Milk Products assists rural communities through Kiri Mawa Surakimu programme

-

Ariya Milk Products (Pvt.) Ltd, a company specialising in dairy products, announced a CSR initiative titled ‘Kiri Mawa Surakimu’, to assist rural communities.

The programme sets out to pick a needy village, and the head of the community enables selected low-income families to receive cows through which they can enhance and enrich their lives with fresh milk for consumption and sale.

Cows are purchased by the company from slaughter houses on the day of the programme, and are given to families to commence home-based dairy industries.

This programme has ensured that the lives of many cows are saved and handed over across the island including areas such as Matara, Aluthgama, Anuradhapura, Kalutara and the Kataragama Devalaya.

This programme also increases the country’s potential towards being selfsufficient in dairy. Each month every cow’s health is checked as well as it’s respective owner is given tips and advised on how to ensure good health and happiness as well as maximising yield for the family’s dairy produce.

In keeping in line with it’s policy of giving back to society, the company also carried out many CSR activities during the short period of time since its launch.

The most recent programme was held in lieu of World Children’s Day which fell on October 1, 2019. Children at the Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind in Ratmalana and Taxila Central College Horana were provided with Ariya Milk.

The company also continuously supports a family of six in Matale that was brought to light by a news channel for not having enough income to provide for their large family. This family receives a monthly package of all required dry rations and milk powder.

Meanwhile, Ariya Milk Products also provided 200,000 cups of tea to pilgrims at religious events held across the island including the ‘Pichchamal Pooja’ at the Anuradhapura Sri Maha
