Let’s Unite for our country!

-

Our country is bordering on economic bankruptcy; the worst of the whitecollared criminals are still at large with no resolution in sight

PROCRASTINATION is the name of the game, a game that is well played in our island country!!! Whether it be Politics, Elections, Bringing Criminals to Justice, Building Bridges, or Planning Equitable Distribution of Wealth, Making Schools available to All Children, Giving Equal Opportunities to every Sri Lankan, especially the differently abled in order to give them a sense of belonging, a sense of self-worth, what about the aged and aging population!!! Take a look at the poor disabled War Heroes; they gave their all for us, why do they have to FIGHT FOR WHAT THEY DESERVE, FOR THEIR RIGHTS??? No matter what, it is always a waiting game!!! It is time our Politicians realized that Procrastination is the biggest thief of time and that there are seven attitudes that Block Abundance, Justice and Good Governance!!! Our Politicians are always screaming to be re-elected, but they DO NOTHING WORTHWHILE, SO THEY CANNOT EVEN THINK OF BEING RE-ELECTED!!!

PROCRASTINATION is the biggest thief of time, so don’t delay as if you had a thousand tomorrows!!! Tomorrow may never come!!! INDECISION is the greatest thief of opportunity!!! Nothing is more expensive than a MISSED OPPORTUNITY!!! Don’t delay, DECIDE!!! SELF-JUDGEMENT - be kind to yourself, never compare your weakness to someone else’s strength!!! Be kind to yourself, you are God’s highest form of creation, you are His Masterpiece!!! OVERTHINKING – stop OVERTHINKING!!! You are only creating problems that aren’t there; you can’t control everything, just let it go!!! ENVY is the art of counting your neighbours’ blessings instead of your own!!! Don’t be at the losing end, count your blessings instead!!! SCARCITY MINDSET, Nature is an inexhaustible storehouse of riches; the supply will never run short; don’t try to create wealth with poverty thoughts, let the idea of abundance dominate your mind first; as you think so you create!!! VICTIM-HOOD, you will not enjoy the limitless supply of blessings if you are stuck in the state of VICTIM-HOOD!!! You are not a victim; Rise up, you always have a choice; be a blessing instead!!! It is all in the state of mind OR these 7 attitudes would not serve you at all. Life is too short; be aware of its presence and never ever let them roam free in your mind!!! Our former Prime Minister was the biggest procrastinator in our political history!!! When he was asked to nominate the Presidential Candidate, he kept putting off and putting off and eventually gave us Sajith!!! It was as good as saying ‘I can’t do it, so I am giving you Sajith’!!! Giving us Sajith was not the question, it was the manner in which it was done and, in all fairness to Sajith, he orchestrated a powerful campaign but the odds were stacked against him!!! The people of this country never forgot that no one in the UNP government took responsibility for the 21/4 attack, Pujith and Hemasiri were the fall guys but not a single responsible person in the then government had the courage to take responsibility for that terrible debacle; so how could any of them trust that government with a Presidency!!!

The people of Sri Lanka believed that it was time to find the strength and the courage that lay within them to pick up the pieces and begin again, to trust somebody new and so they chose Gotabaya!!! The people were sick and tired of Ranil’s procrastinating games, no matter what the issues were, he had this morbid compulsion to keep postponing without taking decisions till the last moment!!! The people of Sri Lanka could not even begin to comprehend his lack of leadership!!!

It seems our people have learned to judge our politicians and understood who they have voted for!!! Our country is bordering on economic bankruptcy; the worst of the whitecollared criminals are still at large with no resolution in sight!!! The most crucial underlying question that we need to know most of all is who we can trust, is it those we have voted into positions of power!!! We are confident that those in power now will give us better standards of education, make education easily accessible to the poor children, that they will think of the Forces children, perhaps come up with a plan to help poor kids who sometimes come to school hungry and could at least be given a glass of milk, maybe they can ask all the multimillion dollar corporations to come up with a wholesome sandwich or snack for poor kids, which one of them can garner up worthwhile community projects, get the schools involved in school gardens and distribute the crops to the children themselves, healthcare is the next important issue, what kind of health benefits would be given to the disabled, the elderly who are already in Homes and particularly those who are not, the poor who desperately need medical attention, a law and order Minister who can ensure that court cases, especially of the poor, do not go on for intractable periods of time, formulate some kind of an insurance scheme which will benefit the poor and downtrodden, make employment abroad safe for the countless women who through sheer force of circumstance are compelled to work abroad, especially in the Middle East and who eventually end up not getting paid, being raped, brutally treated or even murdered!!!

The most crucial underlying question that we need to know most of all is who we can trust, is it those we have voted into positions of power

There is SO MUCH, SUCH A DEVASTATING AMOUNT TO BE DONE, THE BURNING QUESTION IS WHO IS GOING TO START IT ALL??? WHO WILL BE GENUINELY CONCERNED TO START ONE OF THE ABOVE OR EVEN BEGIN MULTITASKING FOR THE BENEFIT OF SRI LANKA AND HER CITIZENS??? WE WONDER, INDEED WE WONDER WHO??? THE COMMON GOOD OF THE MOTHERLAND IS THE UNDERLYING FACTOR HERE!!! IT IS INCUMBENT THAT ALL POLITICIANS REGARDLESS OF PARTY RISE UP TO ACHIEVE THIS FOR OUR MOTHERLAND!!!

IF, EVEN SOME OF THIS COULD AT LEAST BEGIN TO BE ACHIEVED, THEN WE COULD TRULY CALL ‘SRI LANKA, A LAND LIKE NO OTHER!!!’

To our new President, I would like to end with the immortal words of the great Mahatma Gandhi:

“BE THE CHANGE YOU WISH TO SEE IN THE WORLD” - MR. PRESIDENT!
