Blue Water and Amaya Lake retain TTSC “sixes’

Blue Water Wadduwa and Amaya Lake Dambulla retained the Travel Trade Sports Club Softball Cricket “Sixes” men’s and women’s titles respective­ly at the 42nd edition of the tournament at the Steel Corporatio­n Grounds, Athurugiri­ya.

Blue Water beat Sri Lankan Airlines in the Mens Final & Amaya Lake beat Cinnamon Grand Colombo in the Womens final.

41 Mens teams and 13 Womens teams participat­ed in the tournament which was sponsored by Aitken Spence Travels for the 18th time.

Blue water reached the final beating Club Hotel Dolphin Waikkala, Amaya Lake Dambulla, Galle Face Hotel and Cinnamon Bay Beruwela.

Sri Lankan Airlines on their way to the final beat Camelot Beach Negombo, Centara Ceysands Aluthgama, Wild Coast Yala, Infinity Vacations and Jetwing Sea Negombo.

The 2018 runners–up Cinnamon Grand lost to Jetwing Sea Negombo in the quarter finals.

Womens Final: Cinnamon Grand – 71 for 4 in 05 overs (M. Udayashant­hi 12, G. Gamagedera 1/12, G. Pushpakant­hi 1/13, B. Sevwandi 1/20, D. Ekanayake 1/12) lost to Amaya Lake, Dambulla – 74 for 2 in 04 overs (G. Pushpakant­hi 34 not out, Alisha Grero 1/25, Rasika Edirisingh­e 1/9)

Special Awards (Women): Best Bowler – Rasika Edirisingh­e (Cinnamon Grand); Best Batter – Gimhani Gamagedera (Amaya Lake Dambulla)

Woman of the Final – Ganga Pushpakant­hi (Amaya Lake Dambulla); Woman of the Tournament – Kalpani Herath (Amaya Lake Dambulla)

Mens Final:

Blue Water – 82 for 4 in 05 overs (Kalum Silva 25, Sajith Thabrew 16, Sangeeth Abeygunawa­rdena 18 not out, Shiromal Fernando 2/09, Chamara Kulatillak­e 1/14, Nilina Pathirana 1/18) beat Sri Lankan Airlines – 14 all out in 2.2 overs (Uditha Dayawansa 2/08, Ashan Madusanka 1/05, Kalum Silva 2/0)
