Gel Nail Polish has a huge popular following. And why wouldn’t they? After all, Gel nail polish takes just minutes to apply and then lasts for a fortnight without chipping, peeling or losing its’ shine. What’s not to like?

? HOW IS GEL POLISH SO STRONG

The base formula for gel nail polish colours is made of a photo-reactive ingredient system that cures with artificial light and creates a bond that’s more powerful than nail enamel.

Important fact #1: We recommend that you take a break from gel nail polish every now and again to give your nails a rest, this is vital because otherwise even normal nails can weaken.

Gel polish offers a range of advantages:

A gorgeous selection of colours A smooth, self-levelling polish minus unsightly ridges and bumps A minimum 2 -week hold that continues to look fresh No smearing, chipping, smudging or scratching Shorter drying time Radiant shine

Important fact #2: No picking please! Once the peeling phase starts, it can be hard to resist picking at your polish. However, remember that if you give in and start ripping strips of polish off, you are also taking layers of your nail off! This kind of damage can take over six months to repair.

? WHAT IS THE DRYING PROCESS FOR GEL POLISH

To dry, gel nails are cured under an (ultraviolet) UV nail lamp or lightemitting diode (LED) lamp. Traditional standard UV lamps are no longer the only - or best – choice, and at The Nail Anatomy, we have chosen LED over UV. Why? LED lamps cure gel nails faster, taking just 30seconds as opposed to 2 minutes. This means that your hands aren’t subjected to minutes-long exposure under the UV lights.

LED lamps create a hard, crystalline gel finish in just a few minutes, leaving you valuable time for more important things.

Important fact #3: Always avoid the toxic trio. At The Nail Anatomy we guarantee that our gel polish does not contain carcinogens like Formaldehyde, toluene, and dibutyl phthalate (DBP).
