SAJITH PLEDGES TO BRING CHAMPIKA OUT OF PRISON
MP Sajith Premadasa who has been named Leader of Opposition pledged to do everything together with UNF MPS to get the jailed Former Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka out of prison. Mr. Premadasa who was speaking at the ‘Sathya Kriya’ held calling for meeting out justice at Vihara Mahadevi Park, Mr. Premadasa said everyone had come together against the suppression of an MP who had worked for the betterment of the country. “Mr. Ranwaka stood against the division of Sri Lanka right from the time LTTE closed the Mawilaru Anicut.
“We will do everything which is legally possible to save Mr. Ranwaka. We hope that he would come out of Prision soon and continuously stand for one united nation,” he added. Mr. Premadasa said he expects the Judiciary to act independently when it is dealing with Mr. Ranawaka. UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said everyone in the UNP and UNF has come together against what he called suppression of opposition. Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka said Mr. Ranawaka has been treated the same way he was treated in 2010. “I underwent a similar experience in 2010 and I know what is Mr. Ranwaka is going through,” he said.
MP Rajitha Senaratne said he is satisfied on the decision made by the Judiciary made with regard to the petition he filed yesterday. “I trust that Mr. Ranwaka will also get a favorable verdict from the judiciary at the end of the day. The MPS and other who participated in the ‘Sathya Kriya’ lit torches and candles to seek divine intervention for Mr. Ranawaka to come out of prison.
