CIPM to discuss ‘Promising Prospects for HR in Public Sector’ on Feb. 11

CIPM Sri Lanka, the nation’s leader in human resource management, has organised a half-day panel discussion on ‘Promising Prospects for HR in the Public Sector’, on February 11, 2020, at the CIPM Sri Lanka head office ‘HR House’, in Colombo 5.

The keynote address will be delivered by Commission­er General of Labor Ananda Wimalaweer­a.

Dhammika Fernando – Executive General Manager, Tropical Findings (Pvt.) Ltd and President CIPM Sri Lanka, Dr. Lloyd Fernando – Senior Consultant, Postgradua­te Institute of Management (PIM), University of Sri Jayewarden­epura, Group Captain Manoaj Keppetipol­a – Commanding Officer, SLAF Camp Weerawila, Editor CIPM Executive Council and Chartered Fellow Member CIPM, Rohitha Amarapala – DGM HR and ER, Sri Lanka Insurance, Past President CIPM Sri Lanka and Chartered Fellow Member CIPM and Soloman Sumanasoor­iya – DGM HRM National Water Supply and Drainage Board, Council Member CIPM Executive Council and Chartered Fellow Member CIPM, will be the panellists.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Prof. Ajantha Dharmasiri – Professor in Management, Director and Chairman of the Board of Management, Postgradua­te Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewarden­epura, Immediate Past President CIPM and Chartered Fellow Member CIPM.

“The public sector has a crucial role to play in taking the country on its path to progress and economic developmen­t. Efficient and effective human resource management policies as well as grass root activities to hire, train, motivate, reward and retain a workforce that is second to none is the need of the hour,” said Fernando.

“In this context, the prospects for human resource management profession­als in the public sector are indeed promising. As the leading profession­al body in human resource management in the nation, it is our bounden duty to ensure that the public sector too is considered as an employer of choice, which is able to fulfil the dreams of aspiring human resource profession­als,” he added.

The panel discussion, organised by the Standing Committee on External Affairs and National HR Initiative­s, will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Entrance is free, subject to prior registrati­on, due to the limited seating available.
