It is with great pleasure and pride that The Lionel Wendt Memorial Fund presents the ‘Young Musicians at the Wendt’ - a biannual concert series to nurture and showcase the talents of outstanding young musicians. Since it’s inception, the LWMF has been completely dedicated to promoting the arts, living up to the founding principles of Lionel Wendt himself.

Young Musicians at the Wendt concert series will be part of the LWMF’S outreach programme with a vision to promote the Arts in Sri Lanka. The young musicians selected for this concert have already performed in public before and have earned a reputation for being fine performers with much promise for the future. Most of them are award winning young musicians and the audience can look forward to an enjoyable evening of Classical Music. These young musicians deserve public recognition and the trustees of the Lionel Wendt Memorial Fund hope that the music loving public will support and encourage these young musicians with their presence on the 17th of January 2020. The performers at the 2nd edition are Rushane Fernando (guitar), Emesh Wijewardena (tenor),

Uthsara Malaweera Arachchi (bassoon), Jehani Gamalathge (piano), Anagi Gunasekera (piano), Sanuja Goonetilleke (flute), Akeel Vitarana (saxophone), Andrea Leitan (double-bass), Chandu Kumbukage (violin), Rukshika Wettasinha (violin/piano), Zainab Wahid (violin), Chamila Madushanka (violin) and Chaminda Padmasiri (viola). The programme will feature works by Ian Clarke, Beriot, Saint-saens, Vivaldi, Pleyel and Ken Cooper among others.
