MESSAGE FROM H.E. PRESIDENT GOTABAYA RAJAPAKSA

-

I am extremely pleased to see that EDEX Expo 2020 is being held with the vision to empower Sri Lankan youth to be globally competitive.

I note with pleasure that this exhibition has been held over the years and has served to help our youth to select fruitful options in the education sector. I presented to the country my Policy Agenda titled “Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour” that contains a tenfold framework. In it, I dedicated a substantial portion to spell out my thinking to create a society endowed with knowledge to re-awaken school education and to establish a student-centered education system. Further, I proposed a series of other strategies to upgrade and enhance the quality of university education as well as non-university tertiary education.

In our proposed system of higher education, our priority will be to promote “smart technocrats” who are globally recognized and who possess internationally acclaimed qualifications required by the local and international employment markets. I believe that they will be the leaders of the future world. Additionally, it is my vision that Sri Lanka should be at the apex of innovation and creativity.

Against this backdrop, I am sure, the EDEX Expo 2020 organized by the EDEX Secretariat of the Royal College Union, will play a contributory role to achieve the vision set out in “Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour”. Undoubtedly, career guidance will play a huge role in guiding our youth to select a proper professional path to become entrepreneurs or to seek well remunerated employment.

Therefore I wish EDEX Expo 2020 and all the stakeholders of this unique career exhibition success.
