Wije Steel wins Star Award for entrepreneurship excellence

Wije Steel Products, Kandy bagged the Three Star Award for Entrepreneurship Excellence in manufacturing sector, small category at ‘State Star Awards 2019’ organized by the department of industrial development and entrepreneurship promotion of the ministry of industries of the Central Province.

A.U. Wijesinghe, proprietor of Wije Steel received the award at the gala event graced by the governor of central province, Lalith U. Gamage and held recently in Kandy. At the previous state star awards ceremony, held in 2018 Wije Steel was awarded the Two Star Award of manufacturing category, small scale.

Having started as one man shop in a rented premises in 2000 Wije Steel has shown a tremendous success over the years. Today, the company is run in three storey building of its own at Matale road, Ambathenna.

Wije Steel has earned a name as a leading manufacturer of high quality stainless steel (nickel) products in Central Province. Yet it is not confined to Central Province, the products are distributed island wide. What is so special with Wije Steel is the fact that it manufactures high quality products to perfectly match the customers need and sentiments.

They have introduced a number of value added products to Nickel sector. Wije Steel manufactures railings, hotel related appliances, showcases, chairs, tables and furniture for offices and households. Their next target is to enter in to the medium category in 2020 and becoming the market leader in 2023 with plans to establish in the international market.
