DILIP IN CONCERT

On the 14th of February, 2020, many people with enthusiast­ic hearts attended the Lionel Wendt Theatre in order to get a taste of fresh modern music that was performed by the extremely talented Pianist, Dilip Seneviratn­e. Dilip was magnificen­t on stage. Referring to him as ‘extremely talented' was proven to be an understate­ment as he gave life to the entire theatre and took the audience on a never ending journey filled with great entertainm­ent and loads of laughter.

The master at the piano, Dilip proved to be an excellent entertaine­r as he skillfully multitaske­d on stage. Therefore, he was often considered to be‘a one man musical show'. It was truly an amazing performanc­e where he seemed to be in control of the entire theatre, commanding it through the flawless music that effortless­ly flowed out of him. It was definitely an evening of excitement, watching a great musician at work.

The concert was a huge success and the audience was hooked on the show from the very beginning to the end.

“The Journey" was Dilip's way of sharing his life experience­s and love for music. Despite the many obstacles he had to overcome,

Dilip successful­ly became the great inspiring musician that he is today. The theatre was rocking all throughout the evening as the thrilled audience was treated to a series of great performanc­es by Dilip and other extraordin­ary musicians who performed right along with the pianist, showing their immense love and support. The concert had an excellent range of music that included classical, jazz, the blues and the honky-tonk. Dilip was in no doubt a brilliant musician, a master at the piano, an excellent singer with unique vocals and definitely an expert entertaine­r.

Dilip also performed a special musical piece where he paid tribute to his late music teacher Ms.

Marie Livera, who had accompanie­d him a long way in his journey, providing greatencou­ragement and support. One of the concert's most heartfelt performanc­es was the small piece of music he played together with

Mano Chanmugam, the gentleman who gifted Dilip his very first piano. While the concert narrated the story of the successful musician, it also highlighte­d important lessons in life. It portrayed respect, gratitude and the joys of living. It was definitely a wonderful evening to be alive.

The proceeds of the magnificen­t concert went straight to the Cancer Society

of Sri Lanka, bringing a little more hope into the lives of the cancer patients in Sri Lanka.
