Dream Squad launches ‘Track My Kid’

-

‘Track My Kid’ application, a well-timed initiative to solve a longstanding issue for many Sri Lankan parents, was recently launched at a special ceremony in Colombo.

Conceptualized and developed by Dream Squad Pvt Ltd, after a long laborious process involving research and planning, ‘Track My Kid App’ is expected to provide parents and other guardians a simple, highly accurate and reliable way of tracking the movements and location of their children at anytime, anywhere on the island.

The ‘Track My Kid App’ is completely free for parents to download and use, moreover the app does not require the child to have a mobile phone of their own.

The launch of the app was also used as a platform for educating school van and bus drivers on the availability of the new technology and how it could be used, along with fitting a dedicated GPS device into the vehicles of the respective participants invited to the event. This GPS device allows parents to monitor the route and location of the vehicle used to transport their child to and from school.

A large number of young children depend on school van services and school buses as a means of daily school transport. These services are often subject to various delays for any number of reasons.

These delays cause parents to worry and they will then often try and call the vehicle driver to find out where the school transport is. This can be both troublesome and unsafe for someone driving a vehicle and a problem for parents.

The ‘Track My Kid App’ takes away all this hassle for drivers and gives parents peace of mind, as they can check on their child’s location from the convenience of their mobile.

The event was a resounding success with both parents and school service drivers responding enthusiastically to the ‘Track My Kid App’ and the services it offered. The event also included several speakers including Nisal Karunathilaka, Chief Technical Officer, Dream Squad (Pvt) Ltd who explained how Dream Squad uses technology to solve societal issues.

P.N. Illeperuma, Director - ICT of the Ministry of Education spoke on the Importance of ‘Track My Kid’ as a project for the future of Sri Lanka while Saman Perera, Deputy Secretary – Sri Lanka School Van Driver Association illustrated the many practical benefits of ‘Track My Kid’ for School Van Drivers. From an investors’ perspective, Gayani Koralegedara expressed her views on the future of the project as it drives to solve a societal issue.

Speaking at the event about the new app Nilan Mihindukulasooriya – CEO, Dream Squad (Pvt) Ltd had this to say, “We’ve always been passionate about leveraging technology to solve very real issues that affect large parts of society. Every single one of our initiatives is developed with a bigger plan in mind and that is to make our island a better place.
