Stop wasting public money!

-

All our politicians are talking about the waste of public funds by their opponents. And despite there being no existing threat to their lives or families, lawmakers are provided with personal security at the expense of the state. Even retired officers of the armed forces are provided with these facilities. This is what the regime does despite recommending the private sector to retrench, reduce staff and even avoid paying their entitled over time payments. It is fair to reduce staff wages by 30% or 40% !

This government and even the previous regime provided escorts to lawmakers and their families. This led to depriving the public of vehicles when required. Vehicles have been used to protect a bunch of “PARASITES” who are destroying the hard earned money of the people !

It is time that the public and the professional Institutions showed their opposition and dissatisfaction publicly regarding these matters. The poor Port workers did just that a few days ago. Where are these so called representatives of professional workers like OPA, GMOA AND THE BAR ASSOCIATION ?

The country lacks dedicated, committed, honest, politicians and public servants. If you visit any of the Police stations in the remote areas of the country you’ll observe that they have no vehicles nor the personnel to handle crimes. It is interesting to note that the defence secretary has blamed the police for the rise in crimes without bothering to find out under what trying conditions these law enforcement officers are employed.

There are police stations located in private buildings rented out with no space even to park a vehicle. Most police stations are ill equipped. Some police stations lack stationery and even a machine to obtain a photocopy. There isn’t enough staff to send on a patrol and engage in preventing crimes. Recently one of my friends, a retired doctor of about 93 years of age, told me that his domestic aid had removed his stethoscope and blood pressure machine. I visited him at Ward Place and called the Police emergency and informed its officers of his physical condition.they said they would inform the Cinnamon Gardens Police, but they never turned up for nearly one and a half hours. I left as I had another appointment. They had come but never recorded his statement and proceeded back to the police station.they returned the next day with the suspect and the suspect had hidden them in the house so that he could take them later!

But according to the Penal Code this amounts to a theft as he had moved the objects from point A to B.all this was done with a dishonest intention, but the police opted to settle it and naturally my friend was content as he is not mobile and rescinds himself to the position taken by the police. I am certain that the complaint was not recorded because if they did the Police Station crime figures would have risen in the form of a grave crime; showing lack of control in the police area! All these boil down to lack of staff and lack of vehicles. The Cinnamon Gardens Police is taxed to provide special duties, escort duties, protection to residences of VVIPPS and even their children. If the country is relieved of these duties towards Politician & ex-politicians and if vehicles are withdrawn the country can save billons of rupees ! Who would have the courage to do that?
