The Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC, the manufacturer of Khomba herbal soap, the number one herbal soap brand in Sri Lanka, with the Rotary Club of Colombo West, donates a tube well for the families in Sugaladevigama, Nuwaragala and Dimbulagala. This CSR project continues under Swadeshi Khomba Herbal Soap brand and Rotary Club of Colombo West. Swadeshi recently donated water tanks to rural villages all over the island.

Swadeshi spokesperson said, “As a Sri Lankan company, we consider it a duty to help the communities in the rural areas in Sri Lanka to raise a healthier younger generation. Getting safe water for drinking in schools is a big problem in the dry zone areas in Sri Lanka. During the driest times of the year, children have health issues by not consuming sufficient water during the day. Communities suffer many difficulties and hardships due to this.

It’s another Swadeshi Khomba ‘Praja

Sathkaraya’ project, which gives safe water for hundreds of people living in the dry zone of Sri Lanka. At Swadeshi, we think this is our own social responsibility and we hope to continue this kind of projects in years to come.”

Rotary, which commenced in 1905, is a worldwide organisation, whose membership now exceeds 1.25 million in over 200 countries with the motto of ‘Service above self’ and in Sri Lanka itself, has more than 1,400 Rotarians in 70 Rotary Clubs.

The Rotary Club of Colombo West, one of the largest clubs in Sri Lanka, with nearly 100 members, is actively involved in community service projects across the country, including water and sanitation, which is an important avenue of service. Around 120 families are benefited by this tube well project in Sugaladevigama, Nuwaragala and Dimbulagala, which is located in the dry zone of Sri Lanka.

Swadeshi Khomba also annually illuminates the country’s most famous temples under the theme, Swadeshi Khomba ‘Aloka Puja Sathkaraya’.

“As a Sri Lankan-owned company, we consider it a duty to safeguard the culture and traditional heritage of Sri Lanka by supporting activities such as Aloka Poojawa,” she added.

She explained that Swadeshi illuminates places of worship in the country for the benefit of all worshippers and also to educate the younger generation on the importance of safeguarding the country’ heritage.

Swadeshi supports the Aloka Poojas of Kataragama Kiri Wehera, Ruhunu Kataragama Maha Devalaya, Devundara Uthpalawarna Vishnu Devalaya, Redeegama Ridee Viharaya, Rathnapura Maha Saman Devalaya, Dambadeniya Raja Maha Viharaya and Keragala Raja Maha Viharaya, annually.
