Did you know that the world’s largest German festival began as a wedding celebration more than 200 years ago when Bavaria’s Crown Prince Ludwig married Princess Therese on the 12th of October 1810? The wedding was celebrated with multiple days of feasting and horse races while the citizens of Munich were invited to attend the festivities held on the fields in front of the city gates to celebrate the royal marriage. The decision to repeat the horse races, and celebrations in 1811 was what gave birth to Oktoberfest, the largest German festival in the world.

This year too, The Oktoberfest 2020 celebration will kick off at the Grand Marquee / North lawns of the Taj Samudra Colombo. The four-day long celebration will run from the 8th to 11th of October and will take place daily between 6.00 pm to 12 midnight at the Taj Samudra – Grand Marquee.

The event will have a starstudded lineup of local entertainment comprising of Infinity, Magic Box mix up, Redeemers, 2 Forty 2, DJ Shiran along with emcee Dr Sean.

A ticket sits at Rs 2,500 nett inclusive of two beverages at the Oktoberfest 2020. An A La carte menu with appetizers, mains and desserts along with beverage counters will be on offer for all guests. Come over, and dance to your heart's content.

This year there will be a host of unique drinks served at the event and guests will get a chance to enjoy and discover hand crafted beverages as well as some popular international beverages. A 15% discount will be offered to all guests who purchase 5 tickets and above at the event.
