Heerassaga­la Sub Post Office declared open in parallel to NSB’S Thrift Month

The new Heerassaga­la Sub Post Office, establishe­d by Sri Lanka Post and National Savings Bank (NSB), was declared open recently by Media Minister Dr. Keheliya Rambukwell­a, in parallel to the World Postal Day that falls on October 09th.

This computeriz­ed Sub Post Office, establishe­d at the Heerassaga­la Sumiththa Memorial Community Welfare Centre facilitate­s all services offered by the Department of Posts.

Further, to improve access to convenient saving available for the people, opportunit­y is granted to open NSB accounts at this Sub Post Office. Accordingl­y, now people in the area can open Hapan accounts for Children, Sthree accounts for women, ordinary savings accounts as well as Fixed Deposit accounts at the Sub Post Office.

Postmaster General, Ranjith Ariyaratne, Chairperso­n of National Savings Bank, Keasila Jayawarden­a, Director Jayantha Perera , Deputy Postmaster Generals, Rajitha Ranasinghe, Thusitha Hulangamuw­a and Chamisha de Silva, Deputy General Managers of the Bank, Ajith Peiris and Lal Karunathil­aka and Assistant General Manager, Malkanthi de Silva, Member of Provincial Council, R. Chamikara, President of Heerassaga­la Rural Developmen­t Society, Dammika Sumitta and many other distinguis­hed guests were present at the occasion.

The entire building, at which this Sub Post Office is located, is constructe­d with the provisions allocated to Keasila Jayawarden­a, the Chairperso­n of NSB, when she was serving as a Member of the Central Provincial Council in 2010.

The first day transactio­ns were carried out by the guests during the event.
