Rosy to undergo PCR test today As a precaution­ary measure

As an employee at Charity Commission­er’s office tested positive

● PCR testing has been done on all first line contacts attached to the office

● All second and third line contacts will be tested tomorrow

● As the positive tested person and some first line contacts had visited the Town Hall in the last few days, access restricted to the public

● Arrangemen­ts have been made to courier all City Planning Department approved certificat­es

● Essential services including Public Health Department, solid waste management, city cleanlines­s and safety measures will continue as normal

Colombo Mayoress Rosy Senanayake yesterday said she will undergo a PCR test today as a precaution though she has not come in close contact with the CMC Charity Commission­er during the finance committee meeting held on Wednesday. Ms. Senanayake told

the Daily Mirror that the Charity Commission­er was seated right at the back during the finance committee meeting.

“I met Minister Namal Rajapaksa only on Wednesday morning and that was before the finance committee meeting,”she said.

Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) Charity Commission­er’s office on Deans Road was closed down as one of its employees was tested positive for COVID 19 according to CMC’S Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni.

Dr. Wijayamuni said the employee was sent to hospital while her family members were subjected to PCR tests and sent to a Quarantine Centre.

The CMC was closed for the general public but arrangemen­ts have been made to carry out services online.

The public can hand over their applicatio­ns for plans and land deeds.

Meanwhile, in a statement, Ms. Senanayake said one staff member attached to the Dean’s Road office has been tested positive for Covid-19.

“We have closed the said office with immediate effect and it will remain closed for 14 days. PCR testing has been done on all first line contacts attached to this office.all second and third line contacts will be tested tomorrow.all first line contacts have been self quarantine­d.

As the positive tested person and some first line contacts had visited the Town Hall in the last few days, we have restricted access to the public.

Accordingl­y, all applicatio­ns can be handed over at the Shapiri Piyasa (Single Window Counter) in the building behind the Main Town Hall Building.

Arrangemen­ts have been made to courier all City Planning Department approved certificat­es.

Payments can be made via banks and online.

Essential services including Public Health Department, solid waste management, city cleanlines­s and safety measures will continue as normal.

All dispensari­es run by the CMC will continue to function and all drugs are available.

The Public Health Department will continue to play its front-line role in PCR testing assisting and assisting in quarantini­ng operations within the City.

Whilst regretting any inconvenie­nce caused, please be assured that we are taking all necessary precaution­s to safeguard our staff and the residents of Colombo.
