Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2020 to discuss private sector’s role in driving economic recovery
Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2020 (SLES), t he premier economic forum, this year too will have a line-up of timely plenary discussions under the theme ‘Roadmap for TakeOff: Driving a People-centric Economic Revival’.
The private sector has often been labelled as the engine of economic growth though this has not been the case consistently, due to numerous factors. Industry specialists will come together for a dialogue on how COVID-19 will impact the private sector’s role in driving growth and how will they build business models t hat are resilient, profitable and sustainable.
The discussion will explore how Sri Lanka’s private sector can be competitive and agile locally and globally in response
to COVID-19 and how firms can aim to create new job opportunities as part of the economic recovery.
The presenters at this plenary will include EY Asia-pacific Deputy Area Managing Partner Harsha Basnayake and Sri Lanka Export Development
Board Chairman Prabhash Subasinghe.
Thereafter, the presenters will be joined by Overseas Realty (Ceylon) PLC Group Director/chief Executive Officer Pravir Samarasinghe, Unilever Sri Lanka Ltd Chairperson Hajar Alafifi,
Board of Investment Sri Lanka Director General Sanjaya Mohottala for a panel discussion moderated by Hemas Holdings PLC Group CEO Kasturi Chellaraja Wilson.
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will be organising the SLES on December 1 and
2, 2020, at Shangri-la Hotel, Colombo. This will be the 20th consecutive year the chamber is organising the country’s foremost economic event.
