Mount Vernon Estate bags three coveted Star Awards

Mount Vernon Estate, a forerunner in the black tea industry, was the proud recipient of three coveted awards at the Star Awards 2020 ceremony organised by the Department of Industrial Developmen­t and Enterprise Promotions of the Ministry of Industries of the Central Province.

The Gold award for the Best Young Entreprene­ur of the Year, The Best COVID-19 Controlled Entreprene­ur of the Year, Three Star Award for the Best Industrial Institute were the three awards respective­ly.

Arjuna Medagama, Superinten­dant of Mount Vernon Estate, received the awards from Lalith U. Gamage, the Governor of the Central Province, at the awards night recently held at the Grand Kandian Hotel, Kandy.

The secret behind our success story marked with continuous achievemen­ts and accolades is the fact that we consider keeping customers’ trust unblemishe­d as our top priority. Also we hope to keep the name of Ceylon Tea in a high place in the internatio­nal arena,” stated Medagama.

Mount Vernon Estate tea factory made history by obtaining the world’s first SLIS COVID Protection certificat­ion. With an annual production of 1.3 M kg, Mount Vernon stands as the largest estate operating under Kotagala Plantation­s belonging to Lankem Group. With a work force around 900 and a management team of 75, Mount Vernon is well known for quality black tea. The plantation company is determined to propagate the taste of real Sri Lankan black tea all over the world.
