GOVT. APPROVAL TO IMPLEMENT E-GRAMA NILADHARI PROJECT

Cabinet approval has been granted to implement an E-grama Niladhari project to collect and store day-to-day informatio­n required for the duties related to the services rendered and studying purposes regarding the services rendered by Grama Niladharis. The project will be implemente­d based on the results of a pilot project implemente­d in 162 Grama Niladhari divisions under four divisional Secretaria­t divisions in 2016 and 2017.

IMPLEMENTA­TION OF FLOOD MINIMIZING PROJECTS

The Sri Lanka Land Developmen­t Corporatio­n has recognized the flood minimizing projects to be implemente­d during the year 2021 for minimizing floods occurring within Colombo and its suburbs as well as areas out of Colombo ensuring an environmen­tally sustainabl­e urbanizati­on.

The Cabinet of Minister granted approval to the proposal furnished by the Prime Minister as the Minister of Urban Developmen­t and Housing for the implementa­tion of the said projects utilizing the provisions of Rs. 2,800 million allocated to Sri Lanka Land Developmen­t Corporatio­n for the year 2021.

SLT FACILITIES FOR PROMOTING SERVICES OF MOTOR TRAFFIC DEPT.

A large number of people gather at the head office, the office at Werahera, and district level offices in order to obtain services from the Department of Motor Traffic. Since both the people and the officers of the Department are suppressed by due to the prevailing circumstan­ces, it has been planned to apply solutions by utilizing novel informatio­n and communicat­ion technology for the activities such as allocating a scheduled time.

Accordingl­y, the Cabinet of Ministers granted approval to the proposal submitted by the Minister of Transport for the implementa­tion of the said project in conjunctio­n with Sri Lanka Telecom, implementa­tion of the project in Narahenpit­a, Werahera and 05 other district secretaria­ts.

CYCLOTRON-BASED RADIOPHARM­ACEUTICALS PRODUCTION CENTRE IN SL

Flu or o de oxy glucose (18F-FDG) is a radioactiv­e drug and is being used for PET and CT Tests that conducted to diagnose cancers. A special device called Cycclotron is used to produce this drug and, Sri Lanka has to import this radioactiv­e drug since the required facilities are not available in Sri Lanka .

Considerin­g this situation, the Government has planned to set up a Deoxy Glucose Drug Manufactur­ing Center at Kotelawala Defence University Hospital premises in Werahera in collaborat­ion with the Atomic Energy Board of Sri Lanka.
