Sewn Exports wins Bronze at NCE Export Awards

Sewn Exports (Pvt) Ltd was the recipient of the bronze award in large category at the 28th Annual NCE Export Awards ceremony held recently.

The premier awards ceremony conducted by the National Chamber of Exporters, specially designed to recognize and reward outstandin­g performanc­e of exporters of Sri Lanka was held at Shangri La Hotel on February 25.

As a leading company that collects waste paper materials and exports them for recycling, Sewn Exports (www. sewnexport.lk) significan­tly contribute to solve the garbage problem, indirectly, in Sri Lanka. The company employs a large fleet of vehicles and equally large staff to collect waste paper materials from factories, offices and households around the country.

Having started as a small business at Orugodawat­htha, in 2010, they recorded US$ 100000 export revenue in their first year of operations. Their target is to become the biggest waste material exporter in Sri Lanka. Sewn Exports has remained in the waste material export sector for ten years and today it is the one of the largest company in waste material export sector.

During the last 40 years, paper consumptio­n has gone up from 400 percent while 35 percent of harvesting trees have been used for manufactur­ing paper materials. Currently, Sewn Exports collects waste paper materials from large scale state and private institutio­ns and recycle them properly. The company has expertise and machinery to collect and treat confidenti­al documents and undertakes such operations as well.
