CDM Machine: Bank’s bunkum

- -MOHAMED ZAHRAN

Whenever my son wants me to deposit money, salaries of the field staff- sales guys and the drivers who are working in the outstations, after hours, at the CDM machines of banks specified by the employees, invariably a machine of one of the banks are out of order.

Yesterday night, when I went to the Kotahena branch of a leading bank, after keying/feeding all the inputs required to do the deposit, all the currency notes got rejected by the machine with the following message appearing on the screen all of a sudden –“Out of service”.

I am very much inconvenienced because I have to go to another branch of the same bank to do the deposit. I get the impression that most of the machines are either substandard or are not maintained properly.at times, although the transaction is successful as per the message that gets displayed on the screen of the monitor, the receipts do not come from the machines!yesterday night, when I went to the Kotahena branch of a leading bank, after keying/feeding all the inputs required to do the deposit, all the currency notes got rejected by the machine with the following message appearing on the screen all of a sudden –“Out of service”. Then I had to visit the Old Moor Street branch of this particular bank where I was lucky to make the deposit.

This is to request the banks to ensure that the CDM/ATMS are in working order particularly after hours when the customers have to make urgent deposits.
