Basil is already failed like Gota, Mahinda: Anura Kumara of JVP

Claims to bring Basil Rajapaksa to Parliament to develop the country proved that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has already failed, JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said yesterday.

He told a news conference that Gotabaya Rajapaksa was brought in, citing the failure of Mahinda Rajapaksa.

“They created an ideology saying that Mahinda Rajapaksa cannot take the country towards prosperity. Only Gotabaya Rajapaksa could do that. Now, they are claiming that it is Basil Rajapaksa who can develop the country. It means that Gotabaya and Mahinda

Rajapaksa have totally failed. In the due course, Basil will say another Rajapaksa son should be brought in to develop the country” he said.

Mr. Dissanayake said Basil Rajapaksa had already held responsible posts in this government and added that it was he who had played the main role of the government since this government came to power.

“Basil Rajapaksa has headed the Presidential Task Force in charge of Economic Revival and Poverty Eradication, Presidential Task Force to direct, coordinate and monitor the delivery of continuous services for the sustenance of overall community life in Sri Lanka in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and Presidential Task Force on Creating a Green Sri Lanka. But, when the Covid pandemic came to a critical situation, he was not to be seen in the country. Farmers have taken to the street demanding fertiliser. He also failed just like Gotabaya Rajapaksa,” he said.

He said the whole Rajapaksa family and their economic and social policies failed.
