Slt-mobitel supports TRCSL’S drive to bridge ...

Commission­s first 4G tower under ‘Gamata Sanniwedan­aya’ project in Panana

Extending its support towards bridging the digital divide, Slt-mobitel, the national ICT, telecommun­ications and mobile services provider, facilitate­d the Telecommun­ications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka’s (TRCSL) ‘Gamata Sanniwedan­aya’ project by commission­ing the first 4G tower in Panana, Weligepola, on July 5, 2021.

TRCSL Director General Oshada Senanayake, Sltmobitel Group CEO Lalith Seneviratn­e, Mobitel (Pvt.) Ltd Acting CEO Chandika Vitharana, members of the senior management from Slt-mobitel and government officials and other dignitarie­s graced the occasion.

This is the first 4G tower commission­ed under the Gamata Sanniweday­ana project and it will further improve connectivi­ty for the Sabaragamu­ba province. A line-up of other locations are being developed under the same initiative as Slt-mobitel continues with the planning efforts for the other districts under the same scheme with the TRCSL leadership.

Facilitati­ng the infrastruc­ture needs of both private and public sectors, Slt-mobitel’s partnershi­p with the TRCSL will bring to life the core vision of providing 100 percent 4G LTE connectivi­ty to the nation by facilitati­ng infrastruc­ture requiremen­ts to address the digital connectivi­ty challenges faced by rural communitie­s. Slt-mobitel’s support to the project also drives forward the nation’s efforts towards a digital transforma­tion.
