Maliban Biscuits celebrates World Quality Week

-

As a renowned household brand spanning across seven decades, Maliban has won the hearts and minds of its consumers through the vision of its Founder & Chairman Mr. A.G. Hinni Appuhami, who firmly believed in the concept of “Quality is our religion”. Since its establishment in 1954, Maliban has strived to maintain consistent quality across its variety of products with the introduction of state-of-the-art manufacturing processes, good hygiene practices and quality raw materials.

Although the organization maintained high quality production processes since the 1950s, it was only later that Sri Lanka developed a mechanism to assure quality standards by a national body. With the introduction of international standards in Sri Lanka, Maliban was certified with the ISO 9001 Quality Management System in 1995, remarking as the first food company in Sri Lanka to obtain this certification. Subsequently in 1996, Maliban was also the first food company to achieve the National Quality Award. Maliban successfully won the same award in 2010 and 2015 consecutively.

Mrs. Warna Fernando, General Manager Quality Assurance, Research & Development commented, “Quality is not a new concept to Maliban. We pride ourselves in our state of the art manufacturing processes and heightened quality standards to ensure we deliver nothing but the best to our consumers. Even with the onset of COVID-19 last year, we were able to quickly adapt and transform the way we operated, investing millions of rupees to ensure the safety of our customers and employees alike.”

Considering the significant contributions made by Maliban, not only in improving product quality but also serving the nation over the years in an ethical and responsible manner, Maliban was bestowed the Global Performance Excellence World Class Award by the globally renowned Asia Pacific Quality Organization (APQO) for 3 consecutive years.
