Salary revision injustifies inservice advisors
The salary anomalies of principals and teachers came to an end when the government announced the revised salary will be paid from this month. The principals and teachers led a three months protest to resolve the two decades of salary anomalies of them last year. As a result, the government took necessary measures to eliminate the anomalies. The salary revision committee has considered only the principals and teachers and left out the In-service Advisors. At present there are more than 4000 in-service advisors rending their service in the country. The ISA (In-service Advisors) service was also established after many protests and strikes in the past and the service was finally established in 2020. The ISAS are highly affected by the new salary scales because the ISA’S salary just below the teachers and principals. The ISAS were recruited after nearly completing 15 years of service in teaching in a competitive examination but even for the Sri Lanka Education
The new salary scale for ISAS has made all ISAS fed up and frustrated due to the large discrepancies between the teachers and ISAS salaries.the trade Unionists Joseph Stalin and Mahinda Jayasinghe did not even talk about the salaries and injustice of ISAS in any media. As far as the ISAS are concerned they are the first people who support the administrative people to carry on and carry out their day to day business because they directly are involved with the principals and teachers.they also conduct workshops and seminars for teachers regarding any changes such as syllabus and curriculum changes and any reforms made by the government. The ISAS also duty bound to prepare model papers and exhibit model teaching for teachers. They play a significant role in national results enhancement tasks and subject improvement projects. They also make school visits with and without Zonal Directors, Subject Directors and Divisional Directors to inspect schools in their zone and inspect all eight quality circle files and rectify the errors and instruct the teaches. It is obviously one of their annual duty is to conduct Divisional Levels, District Levels, Provincial Levels and Island wide subject wise completions such as English Day Competitions, Tamil Day Competitions and most importantly Athletic Competitions. The ISAS are very happy about the principals and teachers obtaining their due salary meanwhile they are sad and sick about their salary scale remaining at the bottom. This type of differences and discriminations will not encourage young teachers to join this ISA post in the future and make the incumbent
ISAS to leave the post.thus the ISAS kindly make a request to the government and responsible bodies who involve with salary and remuneration commissions to rectify the salary anomalies of In-service Advisors as early as possible to save these people.
