Dulitha Perera took the oath of office and became the 41st President of the Organisation of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka (OPA), at its Annual General Meeting, held last week.

Perera has been the moving spirit in most of the committees he represented at the OPA and at other professional and social activities he involved in.

A chartered accountant by profession, Perera served the OPA for many years in numerous capacities, including as President Elect, Vice President, Treasurer and on various standing committees such as National Issues Committee, Development Policies, Strategies and Development Financing Committee, Education and Human Resource Development Committee and Career Guidance and Skills Development Committee and Young Professionals and Outreach Programmes Committee are to name a few, where he actively contributed.

The flagship event of the OPA, the 34th Annual OPA Conference themed ‘Resurgence in the

New Order’ was perceived as one of the most successful events organised and was held at Shangrila, Colombo, under the leadership of Perera as Chairman of the OPA Annual Conference Committee and President Elect of the OPA.

As a Partner of KPMG, one of the leading international audit, tax and advisory institutions, Perera’s sheer range of experience and exposure in professional activities of the global firm has enabled him to actively contribute to providing insights on deliberations of the OPA.

His leadership skills are ample testimony when he took over the reins of organising the National Conference of Chartered Accountants. During his term, Perera very successfully managed and chaired the entire conference, which was considered to be the biggest business summit in Sri Lanka that was attended by over 2,000 professionals, both in person and online. He also served as President of the vibrant Young Chartered Accountants’ Forum (YCAF), where he stands as a leader launching several programmes towards enriching the vital soft skills of young professionals, including the YCAF Freshers Eve, Fun Drive, YCAF Knowledge Forum and the launching of the YCAF logo, coinciding the rebranding of CA Sri Lanka in 2012.

In his acceptance speech as President of the OPA, Perera solicited support to achieve the objectives of the OPA from the newly-elected office bearers, past presidents, constituent member associations, life members and members of the OPA to rally around the OPA in providing insights and input on matters of national and regional interest and promoting such interest by co-operation with both the government and nongovernmental organisations.
