Jataka Tales audio book to be launched

The Centre for Contempora­ry Indian Studies [CCIS] - University of Colombo and the Swami Vivekanand­a Cultural Centre [SVCC] - High Commission of India, Sri Lanka jointly produced the Jataka Tales Audio Book in the Sinhala language. The audio book contains 50 Jataka Tales, selected from Jatakattak­atha under the theme of Good Advice, to mark the 75th anniversar­y of independen­ce of India (Azaadii kaa Amrit Mahotsav)

and 10th anniversar­y of the Centre for Contempora­ry Indian Studies (CCIS), University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The launching ceremony will be held at the Ruwanweli Sthupa premises in Anuradhapu­ra at 3.00pm, under the distinguis­hed Maha Sangha on Poson Poya day.

Also expected to grace the occasion is Dr. Shusheel Kumar, Head of Chancery High Commission of India in Sri Lanka.

Indian High Commission­er, His Excellency Shri Gopal Baglay and Vice Chancellor of the University Colombo Senior Professor (Chair) H. D. Karunarath­na will send video messages for this event.

This CD is dedicated and offered as a Dharma Daana (alms) from the people of India, especially to the differentl­y abled brothers and sisters in Sri Lanka. This project was conceptual­ised by Dr. Rewant Vikram Singh (Director, SVCC), supervised by Ven. Rambukkana Siddhartha Thera, written in simple Sinhala language by Dr. W. A. Abeysinha, with theme music composed, directed and presented by Chair Senior

Prof. Upul Ranjith Hewawitana­gamage (Director, CCIS) with inputs coming from TV and Radio presenter Ms. Wathsala Samarakoon.
