Maris Stella, Ananda NS book berths to final

Maris Stella, Thimbirigaskatuwa and Ananda National School, Puttalam booked their berths to the final of the Under-19 Division Three Tier ‘B’ limited-overs tournament when they recorded wins against Wickramabahu MMV, Gampola and Methodist High School, Batticaloa, respectively. Both fixtures were played at Giriulla.

An unbeaten knock of 60 in 53 balls (six boundaries and three sixes) by Savindu Perera and two valuable partnerships -- the first an opening wicket stand of 61 runs between Samod Appuhamy and Suwahas Yapa and the other an unbroken 57 runs for the third wicket between Savindu and Eshan Fernando -- helped Maris Stella coast to an easy eight-wicket win over Wickramasbahu MMV.

In the other low-scoring encounter, Ananda NS pulled off a close one-wicket win. Methodist High School, taking the first lease of the wicket, made 120, and Ananda NS, in reply, raced to the target in the 29th over.
