Two matches of the Dialog Schools

Rugby League tournament are down for decision in Colombo with St. Peter’s College taking on Dharmaraja College at Bambalapitiya and Wesley College locking horns against Vidyartha College at Longdon Place.

St. Peter’s, one of the top contenders for the schools rugby title, will come out as favourites against Dharmaraja which is scheduled to be kicked off at 4.15 p.m.

The Peterites led by center Sudesh Jayawickrama will be aiming to start off on a winning note while Dharmaraja led by co-captains Sawmya Wijesiri and Thenuka Wickramasinghe will be seeking to put their best foot forward to prevent the robust Peterites from going on a scoring spree.

The Peterites will also be seeking to continue their form of the last season (2019) where they ended as runner up in the league segment and emerged champions of the President’s Trophy knockout tournament.

In the last outing between the two teams St. Peter’s chalked up a massive 50-13 which was was one of the two matches to be played in the 2020 season before the tournament came to a standstill due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, Wesley has the edge against Vidyartha, who were promoted into the top league after their performance in the 2019 season. But they have been unable to show off their talent in the top division due to the cancellation of the 2020 tournament due to the Covid-19 pandemic and in the only match they played after the promotion was against Wesley who recorded a convincing 36-06 victory.

Wesley will be led by full back Tharusha Jayaweera and Vidyartha by centre Arosh Ratnayake.
