LETTERS TO THE EDITOR LOGIC BEHIND POWER CUTS?

- NIHAL DE ALWIS

Power cuts are acceptable if the cuts are based on some logical conclusions, and not on an ad hoc basis, like the way it is implemented now, where Colombo Municipality region is exempted along with some other areas like Wattala , Pelawatta and many other areas exempted due to some being located either because the residences or institutions are within the reach of the Army camps, hospitals, and close to residences of VIPP, or certain engineers of the CEB, whilst the others are suffering with indiscriminate power cuts depriving the poor businessman who is operating a small photocopying machine or taking printouts and using power to make cakes and snacks for survival etc.

The consumer protection authority is blind to this! Does this country have an Ombudsman? All our electrical appliances have been burnt due to these haphazard power cuts which are not scheduled.there is a limit the public could tolerate this unprincipled actions and will very soon rise in anger and violence, as the public have no options other than to revolt against this corrupt, inept, inefficient, and lethargic leaders. COPE revealed the magnitude of corruption committed by the CEB and its Chairman and Engineers whereas the public are paying their Payee tax and giving extra allowances to their employees for doing their duties correctly.what administration is this by the so-called Minister who has been blind to these corrupt regulations? This government should take them to courts, at least the Opposition should initiate legal action without any delay.
