Stop violence against Women!
One thing we all should remember that women are part and parcel of our lives and their supports and suggestions are significant for a perfect and prosperous lives of men, nonetheless they undergo various mental and physical inconvenience every now and then in every part of the world.
The recent incident in Panadura makes us feel sorry and sad the way in which the two female cops were treated by a policeman in full view of public. The women in the present world commit and contribute to the overall development of this universe, their contribution to the development of the country for instance as house wives, house maids, teachers, doctors, nurses, economists, administrators, rulers, social workers and so on. They are not only shouldering the heavy burdens of family life but also, they bear the tortures of opposite sex at homes, elsewhere in this country and the world. Some women in Oman recently faced inconvenience and stranded in that country.
It is high time for us to develop an effective system for overseas employment especially for women who go abroad as domestic aides and other employments. They should be guided and protected by proper career guidance and training before they embark on the journey of overseas employment. The government should also foster proper mechanism to deal with the women affairs and offences of women in a way to provide them compensation and justice for the injustice occurred to them in their personal and public lives. This is the common duty of everyone to teach our younger society to respect, rescue and treat their opposite sex with kind and love in every moment of their lives. We should also pay attention to fulfil the needs and necessities of women first and foremost at home and then elsewhere in the country.
We Sri Lankans and rest of the people in the world should grow and groom mutual respect for women wherever we mingle and interact with them for our daily businesses. We men should also raise our voice against the violence and injustice meted out to them and determine ourselves not to harm women but treat them with humanity.
